What’s the most common mistake you catch on resumes?
The most common mistake I catch on resumes is the lack of information in the bullet points. I always tell students to have “two-sided” bullet points. This means writing down a task that you completed on the job, or something you contributed, and adding a second part to it saying what you learned, or something you accomplished to make your transferable skills stick out from those of other students.

Also, attention to detail. Recruiters probably spend a total of 10 seconds initially scanning your resume. If they catch a typo, or a small mistake in those 10 seconds, your resume will more than likely wind up in the trash can. Get your resume reviewed every time you make changes to it, so that a pair of fresh eyes can look at it and potentially catch any mistakes that you might have made.

What’s listed as your interests on your resume? What’s the coolest interest you’ve seen on a resume?
The interests on my resume are: Intramural volleyball, writing, tennis, philanthropy. The coolest interest I’ve ever seen on a resume was piloting. I think the main thing to remember is that some of the skills should showcase your transferable skills.
