Where are you interning?
I will be in the KPMG San Francisco office.
How did you go about getting your internship? What steps did you take?
I received an email from McCombs Career Services, and one of the links was about a KPMG leadership program for the summer. My application was chosen and I successfully attended the program that summer. Along with acceptance in the program, I was granted an interview with the company.
What classes do you think were the most valuable in getting your internship?
This happened during my freshman year, so BA101 was very helpful regarding how to come across as professional and take advantage of any opportunities presented to me.
What advice would you give to others as they search for an internship?
Definitely apply for any opportunity that interests you, regardless of what you think your chances are. You’ll be surprised at the results that follow. Also, take advantage of your friends who are upper-classmen. They have generally gone through this numerous times so they can give you all the last-minute tips that really come in handy.
Can you describe how your interview went?
It was my first professional internship/job interview, so I was pretty nervous. I ended up interviewing with three separate individuals at the office, but it was actually not that stressful. They knew how limited my experience was and they were very accommodating about that.
What were the hardest questions they asked in your interview?
Rather than being asked any difficult case questions, I was mostly asked behavioral questions. Luckily, I had just gone through BA101 and BA324, so I was well-versed and confident with my answers.
