Where are you interning?
I will be interning this summer at Halliburton in Houston, TX.
How did you go about getting your internship? What steps did you take?
I applied for internships online through OCR and was offered interviews from
various companies. I scheduled interviews and chose the internship that I felt
would be most aligned with my career goals.
What classes do you think were the most valuable in getting your internship?
For my internship a lot of my major-specific upper division classes were what recruiters were looking for.
What advice would you give to others as they search for an internship?
Apply for positions that interest you and definitely do your company research
before each interview. Go into the interview with confidence and consider each
company’s culture and how you would fit into it.
Can you describe how your interview went?
I was interviewed by two different people during the interview, and they wanted
to get to know me as a person through typical behavioral questions as well as
plenty of information on their internship programs.
What were the hardest questions they asked in your interview?
The most difficult question I encountered was in my second-round interview when Exxon’s Controller for Africa asked, “Say you are a project manager in Africa with a team that does not have good chemistry and consistently produces late or inadequate work. What do you do and what do you tell your manager?”
