velma3ADear BBA Students,

We have had a record number of employers participating in events on campus; so far we have hosted 26 events with 328 employers. Thank you for attending these events; it has been great to see BBA underclassmen and upperclassmen taking advantage of all these opportunities to connect with employers. There were a total of 3,798 BBA students who attended our events.  We are also proud to receive such great feedback about your professionalism.

Now it’s the exciting time of the year when you’re applying and interviewing for internships and jobs. Our Career Advisors are here to help you feel prepared; make a one-on-one advising appointment for career choice decisions, a mock interview or offer evaluation/negotiation guidance. Check out our website for great interview preparation information: company research resources, interviewing techniques, job search correspondence (thank you letters, etc) and more. And remember what you learned from BA 101 and the McCombs Career Services Code of Ethics! Also, employers hold Information Sessions (see OCR) so that you can learn more about their company and they take note of who attends, so it’s a great way for them to know you really want a job/internship with their company.

Our social media tools can also help you with your company research: stay in tune with when employers are hosting events by liking Texas BBA Career Services on Facebook; keep up with company news via our @TXBBACS industry lists on Twitter, read our Texas BBA Career Services Blog to learn about student and alumni experiences at different companies, and connect with employers, alumni, and fellow students by joining our LinkedIn Group: Texas BBA Career Services Student, Alumni, and Employer Network and Subgroups: Texas BBA Student, Alumni, and Employer Mentor Network and Texas BBA International Student, Alumni and Employer Network. You and your fellow BBA students will achieve so much success, build your network now and stay connected!

Underclassmen: Many employers have Leadership Development Programs for freshmen and sophomores. BBA Career Services also offers many great programs that allow you to gain leadership skills, explore your career, and network with professionals through: the Career Shadowing Program, Target Your Future, McCombs Diversity Council, and BBA Women’s Council. It’s never too early to start down your career path!

We look forward to seeing you for an advising appointment, hearing about that first great interview, congratulating you on your internship/job offer, watching you accept your diploma, and greeting you when you come back as an alum to recruit!

Have a great rest of the fall semester!

Thank you,

Velmasigniture
