What was your role as an intern?
Marketing/Sales Data Analyst in Dell Financial Services
Tell us about your internship experience.
I loved the department I worked in this summer, Dell Financial Services. It focuses on leasing Dell’s computer products to public institutions and large businesses. I got to evaluate a compensation plan, build a leasing model, and observe why some sales were lost. Dell did a great job of connecting interns with C-level employees through monthly speaker series. Also, the other interns were great and there were many events planned for us to bond!
How did you go about getting your internship?
I went to Dell’s info session, applied on OCR, and talked to friends who had interned there before for tips.
What classes do you think were the most valuable in getting your internship?
Statistics and MIS 301, as Dell wanted to know I could work with large amounts of data.
What advice would you give to others as they search for an internship?
Always be open to trying whatever industry – I didn’t think I’d like tech at all, but it ended up being very interesting.
Can you describe how your interview went?
A couple behavioral questions mixed with leasing-specific questions.
What were the hardest questions they asked in your interview? What’s the difference between a Fair Market Value and Dollar Out lease?
