I interned with Protiviti the summer of my junior year and joined full-time with the company as an IT Consultant in the Dallas office after I graduated.

I chose Protiviti because of the great culture and work environment. At Protiviti, we promote a “best people and culture” attitude to build strong and long-lasting relationships with both co-workers and clients. We have the resources of a large firm mixed with the familiarity of a smaller, boutique, consulting firm. As a result, the atmosphere is energetic, entrepreneurial, and exciting. Managing Directors know your name, and people genuinely care about you and your career aspirations. Each day I have the chance to make a difference for my clients and take ownership of my work in ways that I would not experience at this stage of my career elsewhere.

It is difficult to describe a typical “day in the life of” for a consultant as our projects are never the same. We work in various industries (financial services, consumer products, energy, healthcare, etc.) providing different solutions as needed by our clients. As an IT Consultant, you can go from helping with a new system implementation for one client to mitigating system or process-related risks for a different client within the span of a few weeks. We value people who can quickly adapt to changing environments and work well in team settings. Because we are rarely all together in the main Protiviti office, we often organize community service and social events throughout each quarter. These events are always a blast and provide great opportunities to not only catch up with co-workers we already know but also to meet any new hires.

Having been an intern prior to starting full-time, I know that we put a lot of time and effort into developing specialized training programs to equip everyone for success at every level within the company. Training schools are also a great time to meet, get to know, and collaborate with people from all over the U.S. and around the world. Within the first few days of my intern training school, all of the interns met our CEO, Joe Tarantino, in person and grabbed dinner with him. We treat our interns like first year consultants, and we provide opportunities for our interns to hold greater responsibility while working on engaging projects. Whether you want 80% travel or 20% travel, risk consulting or business process improvement work, energy or consumer services clients; you will be able to create your own, unique, career path at Protiviti. I know that my 8-week summer with Protiviti was one of the busiest but most fun-filled internships I had experienced, and it started that first day of training in Orlando.

It is exciting to be a part of a company that is growing so rapidly and seeing how the company has evolved and continues to evolve since its launch in 2002.
