Accenture Leadership Series and Accenture Innovation Challenge
With the flurry of Accenture recruiting events that take place on campus during the fall semester, the spring semester definitely is lighter. However, two very important educational recruiting related events take place in the spring: the Accenture Leadership Series and the Accenture Innovation Challenge.
The Accenture Leadership Series (ALS) is a series of 5 workshops held on Monday nights at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center on campus. Each session is facilitated by 2 alumni Managing Directors who guide students through various interactive activities and discussions relevant to leading and managing organizations today. The curriculum for this year’s program includes assessing leadership strengths, working with social styles and giving and receiving feedback.
Rebecca Teng, a Consulting Analyst at Accenture and a former ALS participant, describes ALS as “a great way to build a network and interact with other leaders across campus and outside of UT.”
“I gained knowledge about aspects of leadership that I hadn’t thought about before and I feel that the Accenture Leadership Series in a way prepared me to take on a major leadership role as I went into my last year at UT. ALS also helped me to build my network and introduce me to an amazing company,” said Teng.
As ALS spans the time of 5 weeks, the Accenture Innovation Challenge, on the other hand, occurs on one day. The Accenture Innovation Challenge is a multi-round case competition that combines hands-on consulting experience with the opportunity to make a positive impact on society. Students work as teams to collaboratively develop a solution for a case based on a real-world challenge faced by national nonprofits. Students are assigned a mentor to help them solve their case and then present their ideas to Accenture executives and the case’s nonprofit.
Bowen Cai, a Consulting Analyst at Accenture and a former Accenture Innovation Challenge participant, said “this was the first and only competition that I did while in school that had a turnaround of approximately 6 hours, so my team had to work very efficiently and think quickly on our feet to come to a good solution.”
Final round winners of the Accenture Innovation Challenge will receive a 2017 summer internship offer, the opportunity to implement their solution, and a cash prize up to $5,000. Winners and runner ups of Round 1 will have a celebratory dinner with Accenture Innovation Challenge team members as well.
The Accenture Leadership Series will take place on March 20th, March 27th, April 3rd, April 17, and April 10th. The Accenture Innovation Challenge will take place on February 25th. The application deadline for ALS is February 12th and the application deadline for the Accenture Innovation Challenge is February 13th.
